our advent calendar

in preparation for the christmas holiday,  we're doing another advent calendar this year. we did one last year and for the most part really enjoyed it. we've made a few tweaks here and there and are very excited about our new list of fun and festive activities.

here are a few of the items on our list this year:

buy a new christmas ornament
watch the movie, white christmas
complete a christmas jigsaw puzzle (in progress)
roast marshmallows in the fireplace
buy and decorate christmas tree
listen to david sedaris, holidays on ice, with friends
hang christmas lights outside
service of lessons and carols
play board games with friends
buy a new christmas album
drink eggnog
go on a christmas date
wrap christmas presents while watching a christmas movie
watch the movie, love actually
drink hot cocoa
bake a christmas pie
watch the movie, elf
watch the movie,  a christmas story
attend our work christmas party
drive around town looking at christmas lights
bake christmas cookies
read the christmas story from one of the gospels 
listen to christmas music on the radio

the idea is to do one advent activity a day until christmas. last year we made a calendar but found that having an activity to do on a specific day caused a lot of unnecessary pressure and some days it felt forced. so this year we decided to just make a list and cross them off as we go and hopefully by christmas we will have done all the things on our list.
